WaveSplitter Technologies Announces New 100G QSFP28 CWDM4-10km Long Range Optical Transceiver for Data Center Interconnect
FREMONT, CA- March 17,2017 – WaveSplitter Technologies, Inc. announces our new 100Gbps QSFP28 CWDM4 10km transceiver, targeted at High density, high bandwidth networking applications found in High Performance Computing (HPC), and mega data centers where a full 10km link budget is needed.
“Our 100Gbps QSFP28 CWDM4-10km high performance transceiver is targeted for use in longer reach applications such as building to building or data center to campus backbones,” said Mike Glenn, Vice President of Business Development. “The CWDM4-10km transceiver shares the same proven Silicon Optical Bench with our new CWDM4 transceiver platform and utilizes slightly higher power versions of our existing CWDM lasers and higher sensitivity versions of our existing photodiodes to achieve this longer reach of 10Km utilizing standard duplex SMF fiber. Before the advent of the CWDM4 10km network architects were obliged to utilize IEEE LR4 transceivers with costly DWDM lasers and their included thermoelectric coolers to maintain wavelength stability. This results in much higher cost and higher power consumption. This new 10km version of our 100G CWDM4-10km transceiver is a great lower-cost alternative to 100G LR4.”
WaveSplitter’s 100G QSFP28 CWDM4-10km product brings lower cost, highest performance interconnect between racks in a row and row to row interconnect in the data center or video distribution locations up to 10km via SMF duplex cable. They are targeted for use in datacom networking equipment such as 100GbEthernet switches and routers, load balancers and firewalls, and high speed data and video servers, and Infiniband EDR switches. The product has a low power consumption of max. 2.5W over 0~70degC. The units are compliant with the CWDM4 industry Multi-source agreement (MSA) and are completely inter-operable with standard CWDM4 transceivers at reaches up to 2km.
QSFP28 CWDM4-10km pre-production units are available now, and production volume is available in June 2017.
